Access to Contraception

Study Years: 2021-23

This multi-stakeholder study explored the 2017 ACCESS Law (Act relative to advancing Contraceptive Coverage and Economic Security in our State) in Massachusetts, which allowed pharmacists to fill 12-month supplies of short-acting reversible contraceptive (SARC) methods. The first part of this study interviewed pharmacists across MA about the system, pharmacy, and patient levels that impact implementation, and a later part of the study looked at public awareness of the law and access to contraception.
